Camp helps kids develop lifelong skills — and friendships

Camp helps kids develop lifelong skills — and friendships

For many people, summer camp is one of the sweetest memories of childhood.  It is at camp that we form some of our first real friendships, learn new skills, gain independence and begin to really see the connection between ourselves and the rest of the world. Camp gives kids confidence to grow and explore, arms them with skills that will serve them well the rest of their lives and gives them memories that they will always treasure. Oh, and one more thing:  Camp is fun!

Camp Cherith is no exception. Through sports, crafts, camp songs, team-building exercises and more, Cherith provides campers with a safe environment in which to learn, grow and explore the world around them. Cherith helps children to develop individually, as part of a team, as a citizen of the world.

At Camp Cherith, campers will learn life skills like:

Self sufficiency

Resourcefulness

Appreciation for nature

Problem solving

Hands-on learning

Social skills

The value of friendships

How to be part of a team

Leadership skills

To live simply, without electronic devices

To experience God's word in action

To respond to age-appropriate messages from God's Word

Camp is a unique opportunity to be outside, in nature and away from the electronic environment children are immersed in. It provides an avenue for children to interact with other children face to face, in positive ways and with positive role models. It is our privilege to provide a fun and safe place for children of all ages to develop these new skills, to make new friends, to gain self-confidence, to develop leadership skills and most importantly grow in their relationship with Christ.

At Camp Cherith, we have a wonderful opportunity to reconnect kids to the natural world. We sometimes forget that nature itself is able to teach in a compelling and unforgettable way. Camp Cherith provides experiences, in which children hear birds, feel the mud between their toes and stare skyward at northern lights. These experiences can’t help but point them to their Heavenly Father and reinforce the idea that like the nature around them, they were designed by God - that they are special and important and loved and that someone in their own community believes they are worth investing in.

Although we attempt to keep our fees affordable we receive many requests for financial assistance each year. We have always provided financial assistance, but we feel the need to be strategic / intentional. We want to do something to bring significant, long-term, positive change to children and families.

Won’t you help us help children to become the kind of people we know they can be.  They'll cultivate good traits and habits while away at camp that will help them in their daily lives as they navigate their way to adulthood, in addition to making lifelong friends and having the kind of fun that only camp can offer. Make your motto, “Leave no child indoors this summer!”  www.campcherith.ca
