Career Growth 101: Tips That Work!

I hope everyone's having a fantastic weekend! I wanted to share something that has been asked of me over and over by the new professionals.

I recently held an introductory session at Mercurius & Associates LLP for all who joined us recently. They are curious about their #career growth, which pushes me to share the same.

I want to quote a famous line by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam:

“To succeed in your mission, you must be single-minded devotion to your goal.”

But is this possible without consistent and personal growth?

Five years down the lane, you dream of becoming a manager or a CEO, or you might start your own business as an entrepreneur. Knowing how to kick-start your career will help you get there regardless of your ideal career path.

You need a solid foundation and a plan if you aspire to career growth. So buckle up and prepare to embark on a personal and professional #growth journey. Here are some tips and tricks I would like to share with you all for your upcoming career:

Focus on your Goals:

Having a purpose in life is very important. Goals assist you in defining what success looks like and means to you. This will be different for every individual. Setting goals based on your definition of success is a strong sense of motivation.

Example: If you are a marketer, your purpose might be to help potential customers. If you are a CA or a financial advisor, you aim to educate your clients on financial health and habits that can help them build their wealth.

Assess Yourself:

Evaluate yourself every day and see your progress in your daily life. Examine where you face difficulty in your workplace and work on that problem. This will help you find your strengths and weaknesses, identify areas of improvement, and continue on your path to success.

Keep up a Positive Attitude:

One of the most significant things to remember while you excel in your career is a positive attitude. The more upbeat you are, the more motivated you will be at your work, leading to great success and career advancement.

Example: Accepting a role beyond your position may build your professional portfolio. Saying “Yes” to new opportunities can help you take the next step forward in your career.

Expand Your Learning:

Education plays a crucial role in building your career. The more you learn, the more your understanding and perspective expands. Furthermore, more opportunities will come as you upgrade your learning beyond your job role.

Example: If you are already working, search for other gigs to gain knowledge. A thirst for knowledge can help you in your professional career.

Make Networking a Necessity:

A strong community is beneficial to helping any business thrive, and networking outside your work community helps your career growth.

Example: If you are a finance person and have a strong connection with a marketer, you can help your firm grow with their help and reach the maximum number of people outside your finance world. You’ll find more opportunities to learn and grow with a strong professional network in your field and other professional areas.

To conclude, we can say that focusing on your goals, upskilling yourself with new technologies and learnings, creating a strong network within and outside your fields, finding the strengths and the weaknesses on which you can work, and last but not least, having a positive mindset will help you grow in your career personally and professionally.
