Changing Career: Yes, You Can

Changing Career: Yes, You Can

Can you change careers? Yes. Does it require extensive investment in you? Yes. Are you worth it? Yes.

"Pete" was a cop for 11 years. Pete was also a game enthusiast. He loved video games, playing games, talking about games, etc. When his organization started a drone surveillance program, Pete jumped in and became the drone expert.

It didn't happen overnight. Pete invested a lot of time in learning drone operations. Playing video games was actually very helpful to him. #howyourhobbiesareskills

Pete started looking at drone-related firms. But his resume needed major revisions to highlight BOTH is his LE and drone accomplishments. He had to totally revamp how he interviewed and how he promoted his brand.

Pete now works for a tech firm. It took 13 months of a lot of work. Pete's battles weren't just external: aka changing career. His main battles were internal: believing he could AND not listening people who told him it wasn't going to happen. Some of them were coworkers, some were family.

The same people who acted like gaming was just a hobby are the same people who want "help" now. 🙄

You owe you everything. You're not put on this earth to live in professional unhappiness. Pay what you owe.
