Congrats to the Class of 2024- Now Go Get a Job in the Events Industry

As the cap and gown season sweeps across campuses nationwide, a fresh wave of graduates are stepping out of lecture halls and into the job market. This transitional period is filled with excitement, hope, and also anxiety.

Graduating into the job market can be daunting, especially when economic conditions are fluctuating. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, over 2 million students are projected to graduate with bachelor’s degrees this year. This influx of new talent intensifies competition in many sectors. However, not all fields are created equal in terms of opportunities and growth prospects.

Among industries vying for new talent, the events and trade show industry!

The events and trade show industry has shown remarkable resilience and adaptability, especially in the wake of the pandemic. According to the Events Industry Council, the global events industry was valued at $1.5 trillion in 2019 and is projected to reach $2.3 trillion by 2028, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.2%.

For recent graduates, the allure of the events and trade show industry lies not only in its size and growth potential but also in the diverse skill sets it demands. From project management and marketing to logistics and creative design, the industry offers so many opportunities that can cater to various interests and strengths.

The growth of relevant degree programs and courses in event management, hospitality, and marketing shows that it is clear that interest in this space is on the rise. The Events Industry Council reports that event planning is one of the fastest-growing career paths, and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects that employment in the field of meeting, convention, and event planning will grow by 18% from 2022 to 2032, much faster than the average for all occupations.
