Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center/New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center Fellowship Training Program in Psychosomatic Medicine ACGME Program # 4093531020 The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) and the New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center (NYPH/WCMC), Department of Psychiatry of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University are pleased to invite applications for a postdoctoral clinical fellowship position in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and Psycho-Oncology. The fellowship year emphasizes clinical care, providing both hospital inpatient care and outpatient care of the medically ill, allowing for unique continuity of care experiences. Fellows spend ten months at MSKCC, with a focus of Psycho-Oncology and Psychiatric Palliative Care as a proven model for learning Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, and two months of required clinical rotations at NYPH/WCMC, strengthening their foundation in General Psychiatry skills and experience. A second optional year is available to provide opportunities to train and participate in clinical research or to further develop clinical and administrative skills and includes a 3-month elective rotation.
Applicants should be MDs who have completed an ACGME accredited residency training in Psychiatry and are eligible for a New York State license or limited permit. Our program has been accredited by the ACGME since October 2005. The clinical fellowship has been in existence for 41 years and has trained over 205 fellows, many in leadership positions in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry throughout the country and Canada. We seek to fill five to six fellowship slots per year. Our large and distinguished full-time academic faculty are dedicated solely to C-L and includes 3 Past Presidents of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine, 2 APM Hackett Life Achievement Awardees) and our fellowship class of 6 clinical fellows enhances our ability to offer a well-rounded curriculum of didactics, seminars and comprehensive, yet individualized supervision in a superior atmosphere of learning and support that broadens a trainee’s scholarship and growth in multiple life and career dimensions.
