Continuing Our Meet the Team Monday Series!

Welcome back to our Meet the Team Monday series, where we continue to showcase the incredible individuals who bring Le Bas International to life! Be sure to check out Patrick Hampton's & Tracey Deakin's articles if you haven't done so, to learn more about the incredible individuals behind Le Bas International Air Charter !

Today we shine the light on Donough Hughes - Our Chief Operations Officer! Donough joined Le Bas International in May 1996 as an operations controller at our original office at Shannon Airport, Ireland. Donough has aviation engrained in his DNA - he was the third generation of Hughes’ to work at the airport. His grandfather made a mean Irish Coffee in the bar, and his Father worked in Cargo for 40 years.

Donough relocated to the US full time in 2000, continuing to work in operations, followed by sales in our San Luis Obispo office. He played an instrumental role in establishing our Headquarters in Huntington Beach, LA. He moved onto managing both our operations and sales teams, before eventually becoming President in 2012, and COO in 2023! Donough is the perfect example of the opportunities available here at Le Bas International!

We asked Donough a few questions - see what he had to say below!

If you were an airplane, what type/model would you be and why?

  • I would be a VIP Boeing 747 or Boeing 777 with 100 First Class Sleeper Seats.  Purely for selfish reasons I would get to see famous footballers and rock stars.

VIP Configured Aircraft

What's the most unforgettable charter flight you've been a part of, and what made it so special?

  • We arranged a charter from Nassau in the Bahamas to Melbourne, Australia with 90 passengers.  I was on board as the rep.  We had to do a fuel stop in Acapulco, but the live leg flying was almost 24 hours!

What's your favorite in-flight snack or guilty pleasure when flying?

  • Ginger Ale.  When I was a kid I saw other passengers have it and I thought it was very exotic!

What is your favourite thing about working at LeBas International?

  • The people. I love figuring out a difficult flight with our different teams and having that satisfaction of mission accomplished.

What's something that maybe none of your colleagues know about?

  • I came third in the Under 15 Accordion Section Clare County Fleadh Cheoil circa 1987.

Stay tuned for more spotlights on our exceptional team members as we continue to celebrate the people who make Le Bas International the phenomenal place it is!
