Creatively harnessing the power of AI in the workplace - Milliman AI use case video contest

As artificial intelligence continues to grow and change the way we work, Milliman professionals are becoming more and more interested in learning ways to harness its creative and productive potential while using it to collaborate and thrive together.

In that spirit, contestants from all over the world competed in the firm’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Case Video Contest. Milliman professionals recorded themselves describing their best use cases for AI, including creative and innovative prompts that help them get the best results.

We are proud to announce the 10 winners, who earned $500 gift cards and whose videos are being used as part of educational materials in Milliman’s internal Generative AI Center.

Here are the 10 winners, with brief descriptions of their entries.

Alannah Downey (Dublin): Alannah uses AI to create a quarterly client newsletter.

Alicia F. (Dallas): Alicia uses ChatGPT to convert a Microsoft Teams meeting transcript into detailed yet concise meeting notes.

Daniel DeMuro (Milwaukee): Dan introduces a prompt for streamlining the initial phase of new project requests by summarizing the requests and generating comprehensive questions aimed at ensuring the project’s success.

Henny Damian (Seattle): Henny uses ChatGPT 4 to create an interactive world map that transforms static data into an engaging, dynamic format and allows website users to have fun while accessing and understanding information about various countries.

Jonas Arnold (Zurich) Jonas leverages the capabilities of ChatGPT to customize specialized translations of insurance terms, resulting in the enhancement of accuracy of translations from German to English and vice versa.

Joseph Sloan (Dublin): Joseph takes on the ambitious and innovative task of streamlining the firm’s invoice creation process by using ChatGPT to automate the generation of invoices by assisting in writing VBA (Virtual Basic for Applications) code.

Pierre-Edouard Arrouy and Paul Bonnefoy (Paris): Pierre and Paul create a chatbot called Bid Buddy that is designed to transform how our consultants respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs). Bid Buddy, which operates on the Milliman Chat GPT API, utilizes the retrieval augmented generation (RAG) technique.

Scott Curran, FSA (Chicago/Milwaukee): Scott enhances the process of writing and documenting code by using ChatGPT in conjunction with Power Query, a tool integrated into Excel.

Sheryl Hou, FCAS, MAAA (New York): Sheryl uses the example of managing a project for a mid-sized client to showcase the capabilities of Copilot for Microsoft 365 and demonstrate how it can streamline project management tasks for consulting work.

Vishal Yadav (New Delhi): Vishal uses Copilot to enhance project management and team productivity by demonstrating how the AI tool can automate routine project management tasks to foster better collaboration and efficiency within teams.
