Deloitte digital launches a new studio in Canberra

Deloitte Digital has continued to build momentum and strengthen its digital capabilities by establishing a new studio in Canberra. This studio will cater for a rapid increase in demand for transformational digital services due to recent policy developments and whole-of-government initiatives that create new momentum for change within the public sector.

Frank Farrall, Deloitte Digital lead partner noted that over the last two years digital disruption has moved from the edges to the core of the Canberra economy.

“The impact of digital disruption on the ACT economy is disproportionately large - 86% of the ACT economy is facing ‘big bang’ disruption, compared with 69% of Australia as a whole*,” said Mr Farrall. “In part this is due to the sheer size of government in the ACT, directly accounting for 30% of the local economy, and influencing much more through the consumption of goods and services. This affects not just Canberra, but every jurisdiction in which federal government operates.”

It’s all about Digital Government

Digital Government is a response to the recent strong emergence of cloud services, big data, and the broad-scale consumerisation of IT, largely driven by the mobile revolution.

“Digital Government is fundamentally user-driven and brings with it a more mature approach to digital service design and it shifts the focus from online forms to the redesign of government itself – around a digital-centric operating model.

“Digital provides new opportunities to change the ecosystem in which citizens, businesses and other organisations interact with government and each other,” said Mr Farrall.

At a territory level, the ACT Government is using digital technology to engage citizens in dialogue over key initiatives and drive the development of the digital economy through the Digital Canberra Action Plan. The Federal Government’s Digital Transformation Office is taking up the challenge to push the digital agenda forward with a range of specific initiatives and a dedicated and digitally savvy workforce.

Deloitte Digital offers one of Australia's largest and most experienced digital design and implementation capabilities, combining cutting-edge creative with trusted business and technology expertise.

The establishment of Deloitte Digital’s Canberra studio brings the number of studios worldwide to 21 and  involves dedicated digital experts who will be an integral part of Deloitte’s  client-facing technology professionals across Australia, the US, UK, South East Asia and Japan.

Deloitte Canberra Managing Partner, Lynne Pezzullo noted the launch of the Canberra based Deloitte Digital studio reinforces the firm’s commitment to digital innovation in the ACT market.

“The Canberra digital team will bring many different perspectives to clients’ challenges and opportunities, combining an established footprint in mobile, web, ecommerce, social and content management with the strength of a global network of digital studios,” said Ms Pezzullo. “We are looking forward to bringing locally based digital strategy, design, engineering and integration services to our Canberra clients,” said Ms Pezzullo.
