Is Democracy being misused in India?

What is democracy? Is sloganeering against one’s own country in the name of freedom of expression a democracy? Is tolerating and not punishing scamsters and looters of the country anything to do with democracy? Certainly NOT. But, that’s exactly the definition of democracy according to a section of media, politicians, and people in India – to let them do whatever they wish to, and yet be scot-free too!

Duniya jhukti hai, jhukanewala chahiye”, is a famous dialogue delivery line one has heard over the years!! Does that line synchronize with India’s present state?

Well, all these years one saw Indians going, studying and working in countries across the world. And they all acclimatized themselves to the rules and regulations in those countries. If that’s the case, then why is the same self-discipline to follow the rules and regulations back home missing? Is that something to do with the chalta hai attitude or simply a hatred for the country? Or were the then governments responsible for spoiling its own citizens for their own gains?

There was a time when one thought that the abrogation of Article 370 in the state of J&K or the pronouncing of the Ayodhya verdict would spread divisiveness or feelings of hatred. But, what one now sees is that, proper government administering can indeed take the country towards the path of peace and progress. It has only gone on to show that the citizens of the country in general are peace-loving, constructive, and wish to live in harmony. It’s the political leadership that is responsible for setting the direction, and one has seen those variations over the years! It also points to external forces that try to interfere in our country who were either using the religion card or the K-card or the Human Rights card to create dissent within the country and keep it under their pressure.

All this in fact goes on to show that democracy, development, and implementation of laws can go hand-in-hand if there is a strong government to head it . . . .
