Democracy in India is a Myth! Our lawmakers are not Forward Thinkers!

In today's political climate, especially in democratic systems, the options available often feel like choosing between bad, worse, and worst. A genuine, people-centered, visionary leader with the political will to drive change is a rarity.

Suppressing or undermining the opposition is not just a strategy; it is an assault on the essence of democracy itself. A robust opposition adds immense value by holding the ruling party accountable and ensuring the welfare of the citizens.

For several decades, ruling parties have worked diligently to weaken their opposing parties, effectively placing democracy in critical condition.

However, the concept of internal democracy within parties is turning out to be a mere illusion. Most parties are under the sway of one or two dominant leaders, with little room for dissent or alternative perspectives. VERY DANGEROUS TREND!

Furthermore, there is a noticeable decline in the decency and decorum of our elected officials' discourse. Regrettably, today's policymakers are often the same people associated with criminal activities or financial terrorism. MANY LOOPHOLES

It's disheartening to see that justice is not equal for all. The wealthy and influential enjoy different rules, often escaping punishment and continuing to hold influential constitutional positions.

Vendetta politics is becoming mainstream. Rather than focusing on developmental strategies, many leaders are more interested in personal gain or settling scores. This short-sightedness is detrimental to a country's growth and prosperity.

In many cases, bureaucratic leaders have become subservient to elected legislative members and do not hesitate to do many wrong things by deviating from the policies, acts, and rule books.

The health of Indian democracy appears to be in a fragile state. While many pay lip service to the Constitution and its ideals, the ground reality is marred by political horse-trading, with parties doing anything to seize power.

Our political landscape is now dominated by individuals who excel at marketing rather than governance, leaving a void in strategic leadership roles.
The rise of fake news, biased media outlets, and politically-motivated consultants have dangerously polarized the nation, causing divisions based on caste, religion, and region.
Attempts at ushering in a new political era, like the efforts of Loksatta (JP experimentation) and AAP, have faltered. Leaders like Pawan Kalyan have not managed to institutionalize their vision, making parties heavily dependent on individual charisma.

The barriers to entry into politics and justice are alarmingly high. For an average citizen, contesting elections requires astronomical sums, and seeking justice in the highest court remains a distant dream due to prohibitive costs.

While we take pride in our nation's 75-year journey, it's essential to acknowledge the reactive nature of our progress. We have lagged in the global race, missing out on pivotal moments like the 3rd and 4th Industrial Revolutions.

The urgent need of the hour is a new breed of political leaders who can shape future politics and move beyond the existing status quo. Dreaming of becoming a 30 trillion economy with the current political mindset and willpower is impossible.

Now is the time for political leaders to focus on a clear vision for 2047, ensuring India's leadership in the impending era of the 5th Industrial Revolution.
