Desired Aptitude is the right key for a non-tech Talent hiring.

Desired Aptitude is the right key for a non-tech Talent hiring.

Hiring the right talent is crucial for everyone; it doesn't matter in what stage the company is currently in?

Maybe a few big companies may have the privilege to onboard a few wrong hires because the systems and processes are in place. But someone who has put in their sweat and blood in building and scaling a business can't afford a wrong hire.

For a hard-core technical skilled talent, you can still have a set standard to check and evaluate whether he has worked on which language or has a particular skill set based on his/her past experience.

For a non-hardcore technical skilled talent, I think there are two very important parameters to evaluate:

1.    Right Attitude: This defines a rigor, zeal, or the passion to work for a common goal: Here an active candidate would sell him/her while for a passive candidate you need to sell him/her your idea or conviction. And after that, the evaluation can happen.

2.    Desired Aptitude: As per me, this is the most crucial parameter over and above all.

The easiest way to define and access the required aptitude is to prepare a questionnaire, which everyone in the current company shall solve in an unbiased environment.

The range between average to the highest marks shall be a parameter, which can be set for evaluating the upcoming talent apart from the right skills, industry fitment, and prior experience.

Also, these sets of aptitude questions shall be only the ones that don’t require a set of formulas to solve while shall be based more on generic or real-time problems, which are currently prevailing in various industries.

  • What do you think is the most important parameter for evaluating a non-technical person?
  • Do you know a product that has really helped to solve this right hiring problem?
