Do you know what solutions, products and services Emerson can offer?

As a consultant at Emerson Process Management I am very fortunate because I get to spend a lot of time working with our customers to help them understand how to get the most out of their existing plants or build automation into their new ones.

A lot of the customers I work with struggle to understand the full portfolio of solutions, products and services which Emerson offer. It is hardly suprising though, I have been working for Emerson Process Management for a long time and I am still learning the portfolio. Being an innovative company, Emerson are often making changes to what we offer. That is why the Emerson workforce like to understand our customers better, so that we can help guide them to the right solutions to their problems and challenges, so that we can provide the right services and products to meet their aspirations. 

Below I have included a brief description of a number of solutions, products and services which you may not know that Emerson can provide, but which have the potential to make a real difference. This list is by no means exhaustive.

Advanced Loop Services

If you have control strategies which you are struggling to control, maybe where the process variables are constantly oscillating and you cannot seem to tune the controllers we can help. We have dedicated consultants who can review your historical data, identify why you control strategy is not working and correct it. They can tune even the most difficult control loops.

Instrument Selection Services

If you are building a new plant, expanding an existing plant or maybe retrofitting one, the chances are you will be looking at purchasing new instrumentation. Emerson consultants can walk through the P&I diagrams with you and suggest the most appropriate instrument for each measurement point. In many cases they will be able to use the same instrument to provide mulitple variables.

Machinery Protection and Prediction Systems

Emerson Process Management can provide systems to help you monitor and protect your assets. These assets include critical assets such as compressors and turbines to essential assets such as oil export pumps. Emerson can provide systems which continuously monitor your rotating machinery or ones which can be used for periodic monitoring.

Reliability Consultancy Services

All plants have assets which require maintenance. Emerson consultants can help you understand how your assets can fail using FMEA and what maintenance strategies to apply for each asset to prevent failure. They can also help you link up your asset diagnostics to your CMMS to help you better plan your maintenance activities.

Control System Modernization Services

 I tend to work in this area a lot. We can help our customers migrate their existing older control systems to a more modern platform. We can help with migration strategies, site surveys, reverse engineering and planning the cut over to your new system.

Automation Strategy Definition

We often work with our customers to help them define their automation strategies. It can often be difficult to understand how to take the automation systems from where they are now to where you aspire to be in the future. Emerson have frameworks and services in place to help guide you through the options and identify potential automation projects.
