Does Online Retail Eliminate the Salesperson?
Not in my opinion at least. The fear of people being replaced by machines goes back to the start of automated computers during the 1930’s and ‘40’s. And after this years NADA there was no shortage of companies releasing the next BIG thing in automotive online retail solutions. So what is the future of the car salesperson. Do we think that the average time to purchase a car will eventually be less time than an express oil change? Maybe, but car buying is more complicated than most other products sold online. Consumers want help with answers on financing, trade and the technology available during their online research. And bots can’t replace true human to human interaction. To be truly transparent online, you have to have the right personnel that can deliver an incredible UX for the shopper while online. Leverage technology with your team. Technology is great and it will allow us to operate more efficiently but with a complicated buying process consumers will still have questions during their shopping process and our personnel should be at the ready to help.
