Does Work-Life Balance Really Exist?
"Entrepreneurs are willing to work 80 hours a week to avoid working 40 hours a week"
That’s a pretty accurate statement.
We, as entrepreneurs, are willing to sacrifice a "normal life" to follow our dreams.
But how much is TOO much? 🤔
At what point does our hustle and grind impact our lives and our families?
Is there really such thing as a "work-life balance" when you’re an entrepreneur?
You see it all over social media - the entrepreneur grind and hustle. The mantra that you MUST be willing to sacrifice, to grind long hours, to do whatever it takes to grow your business.
If that includes less time with your kids, your spouse, your friends - then so be it. 🤷♀️
Now, to be clear, that is not MY personal mantra, but that of many many entrepreneur "gurus".
While I do agree that you must be willing to sacrifice and not have a "normal work-life" in order to be a successful entrepreneur, I think we MUST be willing to find a balance that works for our families. ⚖️
After all, the whole reason many of us start our businesses is to provide a better life for our families. To spend more time with them, when we want - how we want - because we make our own hours.
FREEDOM and IMPACT are the main reasons we are entrepreneurs.
Right?
The freedom to do what we want, how we want, when we want. And the ability to impact hundreds, thousands, or even millions of lives across the globe. 🙌
And to me, that is worth more than money.
This summer I’ve spent more time traveling and spending time with my family.
Sure, if I would have worked more I could have doubled (maybe even tripled) my revenue the past 90 days...but guess what?
I have my whole life to make money.
Memories and spending time with the people I love outweigh the "delayed revenue" opportunities I put on hold this summer. ❤️
Don’t get me wrong, I still grew my business with new customers this summer. But, it could have been more IF I would have put in the required hours.
With that said, I don’t regret a single decision I’ve made to live it up this summer with the ones I love.
I’m now 100% back to the grind and working long hours in order to meet my goals and impact more people (like YOU)! 👊
You’ll find some pictures from a recent family photo sesh we had in Kansas earlier this month. In addition to some California State fair pics from July.
I’d love to know, how do you manage your work-life balance as an entrepreneur? Or is there such a thing?

5yI think as a whole entrepreneurs and business people have the terminology backward. Shouldn't it be LIFE-WORK BALANCE? The emphasis should be on life first then work can follow. It's hard to do but we end up sacrificing quite a bit and let life pass us by. Just a different way of thinking about it.
