Don't Forget to Look Downhill
A new year. Looking back on 2022, I am inspired by many amazing women who just got stuff done in a highly challenging global economic environment. Pick a topic. Inflation. Interest rates. Stock market. Guns. Women’s rights. War. It was exhausting. And yet here we are in January 2023 with a clean slate. The clock has been reset back to zero, and I am sure many of you are already charting out and thinking about 2023 goals.
But don’t forget to take a moment to think about what you accomplished in 2023, personally and professionally. What were a few successes that you had? What lessons did you learn? What will you be more thoughtful about this year? I remember back to January 2009, another challenging time. I was getting ready to quit my job for the third time in the worst economic environment ever. After I had reassured my parents that I wasn’t moving back in with them, I realized it was time to pursue a new path. That path has led me to where I am today, leading Artemis’ women and wealth practice. This work is meaningful because I realize money plays a vital role in women’s lives as they climb their professional and personal “mountains.” (Stay tuned for more on what I discovered from the quiet room at Miraval, watching the Catalina mountains.)
So, as we start another year, take a few minutes to consider where you are in your “climb” to the top of “your mountain.” And more importantly, have you defined what is at the top of the mountain? What does success mean to you? Our women and wealth community is here to help you in your journey. Stay tuned for more resources to help you build a strategic wealth plan that will help you reach the top of your mountain. But take a moment today and remember to reflect on everything you’ve accomplished in 2022 and acknowledge how far you’ve already climbed.

1yWhat an incredibly thought provoking article Kathleen McQuiggan. Your words struck a chord with me - my husband was just giving me these same reminders on New Year’s Day!
