On May 15th, international law enforcement agencies seized all domains from BreachForums, an online platform used for trading stolen data. It was a short-lived victory, however—less than two weeks later, the cybercriminals had already regained several domains from the FBI.

This is the second time in the last year BreachForums has been targeted by—and successfully resisted—attempts from law enforcement to shut them down. Check out our monthly news round up to learn more about the seizure, as well as other cybersecurity news stories, including:

  • 400,000 compromised Linux servers

  • 1,500 banks targeted by Grandoreiro trojan virus

  • 11 vulnerabilities found in GE ultrasound machines

Also, this month: What are ACH payment scams? And how can you avoid them?

Automated clearing houses (ACH) facilitate electronic money transfers between banks. The US ACH network handles billions of transactions every year, such as direct deposit, bill payments, and more.

Unfortunately, the system’s efficiency and speed also makes it a common target for cybercriminals, who obtain stolen banking information to make unauthorized transactions.

These crimes occur quickly and can be especially difficult to reverse. Check out ACH Payment Scams: What They Are and How to Avoid Them to learn more about how to stay safe.
