DTRA SB Director Highlights 2018 Key Initiatives & Procurement Opportunities

A phenomenal job by Robert (Rob) Stewart, Jr., Director, Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Small Business (SB) Innovation Programs, who headlined AFCEA Belvoir's Small Business Networking Event on February 20 at the Fort Belvoir Officers Club.

Mr. Stewart's wide-ranging discussion highlighted upcoming procurement and SB opportunities, FY18 key initiatives, FY18 SB goals, and steps the Agency is taking to actively encourage competition in support of DTRA's vision, mission, and key role in our National Security.

DTRA currently participates in Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR), Scientific Technology Transfer (STTR) and the Rapid Innovation Fund (RIF). Each of these SB Programs are funded at the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) level and provide a ‘continuous proving ground’ to field DTRA areas of interest(s) / mission sets. One of Mr. Stewart's Key SB Initiatives for FY2018 is to establish metrics to prioritize these concerns against Agency mission sets and map them to Acquisition Programs of Record in order to facilitate streamlined acquisition.
