In June, we welcomed several representatives from leading financial institutions globally to our operations at Jharsuguda, Odisha, home of the world’s largest aluminium plant. During the visit, we provided them with deeper insights into the innovation, excellence, world-class products and commitment to sustainability that are the defining hallmarks of our operations. Their visit was packed with hands-on demonstrations of our plant processes, production technologies and safety protocols. Through these efforts, we provided a glimpse of the infinite possibilities of aluminum, and our role in unlocking this potential for the world!

Business Highlights

Achievement unlocked - BIS certification received for 12mm wire rods

We have achieved a significant milestone by receiving Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Certification for the 12mm Wire Rod produced at our BALCO operations. In addition to this certification, BALCO has also received BIS re-certification for seven other product licenses, a testament to our continuous pursuit of excellence and quality in aluminium manufacturing.

India’s biggest fleet of electric forklifts grows even larger

We have expanded the number of electric forklifts deployed across our operations, with Vedanta Jharsuguda recently adding 22 new forklifts to its fleet. This initiative will contribute to reducing carbon emissions and fuel consumption, by cutting annual diesel usage by 800 kiloliters and CO2 emissions by 2160 tonnes, thus setting a benchmark for sustainability in the Metals and Mining sector.

Mega road safety awareness drive ‘Suraksha Sarathi’

Vedanta Jharsuguda's 'Suraksha Sarathi' road safety initiative has reached out to over 2500 drivers. Organized in collaboration with Mahanadi Coalfields Limited and major transport unions, the event featured street plays, health check-ups, and the distribution of safety kits. It sought to re-emphasize the crucial role played by drivers in ensuring road safety.

BALCO collaborates with Indian Oil Corporation Limited for fire safety training

BALCO, in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), conducted a comprehensive fire safety training exercise for over 70 personnel at its operations. The training, which included live drills and rescue techniques, aimed at enhancing emergency preparedness and fire safety skills among the employees.

Go-Live of Store Inventory Management System for BALCO Growth Project

BALCO has deployed a Store Inventory Management System (SIMS), which digitalizes project inventory for real-time tracking across dynamic work environments. It will help streamline and optimize inventory operations, providing a centralized platform for efficient tracking, enhanced governance and data-driven decision making for seamless production.

Unveiling Project Sangam: Vedanta Lanjigarh's new developmental initiative!

The project supports rural farmers by helping them develop climate-resilient livelihoods through sustainable agriculture, technology, and natural resource management. It aims to boost socio-economic development with a comprehensive approach. Recently, a Nadep compost pit was installed, and workshops on pottery and pest management were organized.

VGCB launches Project Alamkrita to promote Ettikoppaka craft

Vizag General Cargo Berth (VGCB) has launched Project Alamkrita, a dedicated initiative aimed at preserving and promoting the ancient art of Ettikoppaka from Anakapalle, Andhra Pradesh. This unique craft involves crafting child-safe toys from Ankudu wood using vibrant natural dyes. They are a vivid encapsulation of the region's rich cultural heritage. Project Alamkrita not only seeks to revive this traditional art form but also empowers local artisans by providing them with training and resources to sustain their livelihoods. The initiative underscores VGCB's commitment to cultural preservation, sustainability, and fostering local craftsmanship.

Vedanta Aluminium supports community Kabaddi players for national competition

Vedanta Aluminium - Mines supported two talented players representing Odisha at the National Kabaddi Championship. Demonstrating exceptional skill, determination, and teamwork, both players played pivotal roles in leading their team to an impressive runner-up finish, earning a silver medal for Odisha. They are now all set to represent India on the international stage.
