Employee Spotlight: Hava Elboim- Technical Writer

Can you share a bit about your background and what led you to Carbyne?

Originally from the UK, I studied math at Imperial College, London, and then did a master’s in computer science and a doctorate in medical image processing at UCL. I worked in the Nuclear Medicine department at Hadassah hospital, where I processed brain scans and upgraded the software of two MRI scanners, and in a pharmaceutical research company. Before coming to Carbyne, I worked in an archaeological lab in Jerusalem.

What do you enjoy most about your job at Carbyne?

I think I enjoy most the opportunity to take the initiative and find new skills and tools to use, and out of the documentation tasks I’m given, the more technical ones are the most interesting. For example, I am creating documentation for our new partner, AT&T, including in-depth research into the network architecture of the Carbyne and telecom ecosystem.

Can you highlight a specific accomplishment or project you're particularly proud of?

Taking responsibility for the Carbyne APIs gave a real sense of achievement. It involves making the data structures in the API documentation on Swagger up-to-date and complete, and adding user guides and sequence diagrams for the authentication methods and webhooks. I shared my expertise on API documentation in Swagger when I presented at the MEGAComm technical writing conference in February.

Can you recall a memorable or fun moment you've had at work?

Last year’s Hackathon was fun, and even though our team didn’t win in the end, I was asked to join the committee for organizing this year’s Hackathon. I’m looking forward to seeing which new ideas Carbyne will bring to emergency call centers.

What keeps you motivated, and who or what inspires you?

Carbyne is an innovator. It gives me a boost to read about actual events where Carbyne helped save lives, and this gives a sense of purpose to what we do. I especially appreciate how people are generous with sharing their knowledge. In our company-wide sprint overviews, our teams show our products as they are being built step by step, which I find fascinating.

Alex Dizengof and Amir Elichai are inspiring, as are the teams I work with, who are all hardworking and professional.

What advice do you have for your colleagues to succeed and enjoy their work?

Keep learning, do what you enjoy, have an open mind, be creative and take the initiative. Ask “What can I do today to advance myself and my company?”
