Employee Spotlight: Thomas Sentis

Employee Spotlight: Thomas Sentis

1. How long have you been with Lindt & Sprüngli?

I began my journey with Lindt & Sprüngli at Lindt Germany in 2014, where I worked until 2017. Following that, I spent nearly six years at Ghirardelli before transitioning to Lindt USA, where I've been for a little over a year now.

2. What was your first role at Lindt and what is your position now? Tell me about your career stops along the way.

Starting at Lindt & Sprüngli Germany in Aachen as an Electro-Mechanic, I specialized in the repair and maintenance of high-speed wrapping machines. Over time, I advanced into a leadership position within the Maintenance department, taking on the responsibility of ensuring the reliability of our chocolate production equipment. Transitioning to Ghirardelli, I started as a Maintenance Planner and eventually became the Maintenance Manager at the San Leandro facility. Now, as the Digital Operations Manager at Lindt & Sprüngli USA in Stratham, I lead a team of highly skilled controls engineers. Our primary objective is to automate and optimize not only our production equipment but also the workflow of every individual within the operations department.

3. What is the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career at Lindt?

Focus on your personal growth and be supportive of your colleagues. Additionally, it's crucial to understand how all roles in the company influence each other. Recognizing this interconnectedness will foster your collaborative mindset. Your dedication and teamwork won't go unnoticed here.

4. What impact has AI had on improving processes or enhancing the consumer experience?

AI enhances efficiency by recognizing patterns and making information more accessible and understandable, freeing up time for personal development and future planning. To highlight one of our promising AI projects, the 'Technician Chatbot' for plant employees is set to revolutionize the way we work. By transforming vast amounts of data into easily digestible chunks, it will streamline the decision-making processes on the production floor. Initially, it will assist machine operators and technicians in troubleshooting production equipment more efficiently, thereby reducing downtime. Furthermore, this rapidly evolving technology opens the door to even more exciting features.

5. What are you most proud of in your career so far?

I'm really proud of my choice to join Lindt back in 2014. At the time, it might not have seemed like the most obvious choice, but I saw something special in the company and its potential. Looking back, it's been incredibly rewarding to be part of its growth and success. Moreover, my current role is just the tip of the iceberg - I have the privilege to work with a great leadership team that supports forward-thinking initiatives and believes in embracing new technologies.

6. What is something unique or interesting about you that no one knows?

During a high school charity event, I ran 47 laps around a track, not only emptying my family's wallets but also achieving the highest lap count in the entire school.

7. What do you love most about #LifeAtLindt?

I really appreciate how everyone at Lindt brings such a positive attitude to work. It's clear that people genuinely enjoy what they do, and they treat each other with respect. It creates a great atmosphere to be a part of.

8. And we have to ask… what is your favorite Lindt product?

My absolute favorite has to be the marzipan mini fioretto. But if we're talking about products produced in the US, then the Classic Recipe Hazelnut Bar definitely takes the top spot for me.
