Employers & Agents: 8 Tips on How to Prevent Issues with 2Q File Uploads

The deadline for second quarter 2024 unemployment wage reports and payments is quickly approaching—due July 31, 2024.

Here are some reminders to prevent any problems as you complete your 2Q employer file uploads.

  1. Social Security numbers must be provided and valid.
  2. Social Security numbers cannot be listed more than one time.
  3. Only file a wage report if you are a liable employer.
  4. Be sure to select the correct file type for uploading.
  5. If you are an Agent filing a report, make sure that you have verified the FEIN against the employer on whose behalf you are filing.
  6. DES does not accept negative wages. To correct wages reported in error, you may file any adjustment online or file a paper form NCUI 685.
  7. You can copy data from the previous quarter if you are manually entering it into NCSUITS.
  8. All file formats require a submitter, employer, employee and total record. ICESA and EFW2 also require a final record, while CSV format does not have a final record.

Additionally, if you then need to make a correction or an addition to a report, you have two options:

1.      If the original report has been filed and is on file, you can make an amendment or supplement report.

2.      If the original report is not on file, you must file an original first before making any additions or corrections.
