Enabling Success - New Year resolution
New Year arrives with hope, positivity, and encouragement for future. We as manager and leader have the opportunity of time to recalibrate and enhance our strategies to run Business Operation and Growth in efficient ways. While many of us create New year resolutions as task-based resolutions, wish list of tasks for social, financial and personal growth. We are charged up for few weeks with New Year resolution then all dies down in between busy days. It is not true that we plan things only during New Year. If New Year is a continuum of our existing plan, then what is the fun. To break this cycle, consider approaching your plans with a fresh perspective.
Purpose is powerful than goal
If you want to achieve in Career, find a purpose that gives you goosebumps at any time. Goal is always short-sighted, after you achieve your goal, it's value comes down and you become eager to go for next goal. This creates lots of anxiety, stress and procrastination if you don’t achieve the goal on time. Purpose is infinite and never ending if it becomes your passion. You try to do more but never can say you reached there. You will be lucky if your purpose is noble which impacts positively. Your proudness will fuel your encouragement for contributing to your purpose. Find your purpose in this New year.
Our own brain is first obstacle in our success
It happens to everyone in smaller and bigger possible way that our brain and body try to give up easily. They become our obstacle. One part of brain wants to do something, other part asks us to give up. It is needed that we find ways to trick our own brain. I found a way that works for me. Announce/Commit a bigger goal (aligned to your purpose) to someone with a timeline. This person should be someone special so that you have a feeling that you will feel bad if you can’t complete the commitment. Then it becomes a challenge, our brain wants to win challenges. You can fool your lethargic brain and activate the fighter brain.
Incremental vs Compound thinking
Society often teaches us the incremental approach to growth and a hierarchical mindset. However, consider thinking beyond the incremental and embrace a compound thinking approach. Think big, set audacious goals, and watch remarkable things unfold. Challenge yourself with new and unfamiliar tasks to activate and maximize your cognitive abilities.
