The Exponential Power of Generative AI

Last year I read Rick Rubin's book "The Creative Act: A Way of Being," and wrote about my own creative process which emphasizes the importance of creating space to become aware of inspiration. Inspiration creates ideas that are then executed into a result. Generative AI has become an exponential power in my own productivity. Since the last article I've used GenAI to:

• Create a draft agenda for an interlock meeting
• Create draft copy for a proposal
• Iterate on a t-shirt design
• Iterate on visual design elements for executive briefings
• Improve my own emails to be crisper and more effective
• Improve my own Slacks to colleagues to have a crystal clear call to action
• Improve my own prompts for future generation
• Improve upon an existing financial impact framework to include additional key metrics for a CFO

Generative AI provides a gateway to unlocking unprecedented levels of creativity, enabling individuals and teams to generate and iterate ideas with pace.

Traditionally, the creative process has been characterized by its inherent challenges and limitations. Whether in the terms of design, marketing, or innovation, the journey from conception to execution often involves numerous iterations, revisions, and refinement stages. These iterative cycles are not only time-consuming but also prone to stagnation, as creative blocks and resource constraints impede progress. Now, the only latency is how long it takes your AI Factory to generate the answer.

It's time for the percolator

A common practice for myself is to now tee up a thought to GenAI before I join a Zoom call. The AI Factory gets to work creating copy for a 3 page marketing asset or a talk track for a webinar while I'm on a Zoom discussing other business. Once my Zoom is over I'll jump back over to the GenAI platform of choice and take a look at the output. After a quick cappuccino and before my next Zoom of the day I'll often use GenAI to continue to iterate on the idea. For many projects this many happen over the course of 20 Zoom meetings and multiple days, but I'm working in parallel on an idea or a task that needs to be completed simply by writing a prompt and letting the GenAI factory do the work.
