#EY #AuditorProud

When I started my journey into audit profession, more than 19 years ago, I knew very little about what being an auditor really meant. Just a few months later though I started to be proud about it, as being a Big 6 Auditor in Romania of 1997 meant that we benefitted of the fastest learning and the greatest teams, and I could tell that most of the client teams were looking at us (even the most junior of us) with respect and even envy.

As the years went by I understood the wider picture of the economic performance of our clients, risks that they were facing and priorities of the various stakeholders. I was since then, and I still am proud each time that we manage to be relevant to our clients or their major stakeholders - and we do strive to be relevant in almost every audit.

I am proud to see that, in line with our efforts to be relevant, the audit methodology and audit tools have evolved a lot during this time.

I am proud that, as EY Romania, we contribute very actively in consultations with regulators regarding standard-setting and other important matters.

There is a lot of debate lately around the role of the auditors and it seems that a lot of changes are yet to happen. I am not sure how the "Auditor of the Future" will look like in 5 years or in 10 years from now, but the one thing I am pretty sure about is that I will still feel proud to be an auditor.
