Facebook’s New Algorithm Makes Hiring a Social Media Professional Even More Important

The more important Social Media Marketing becomes the harder it is to approach it as a do-it-yourself marketer.

Facebook is a free site, it started as a free platform and is still free.  Any person, business, organization or group can use it at no cost, that’s zero dollars.  Set up a Page and grow your audience and you can market to your network all day, every day for free.

Additionally, Facebook is a remarkable place to grow a business and generate new sales and revenue.

Facebook is a big part of the average adult’s daily habits.  Over 70% of online adults are using Facebook and they spend quite a bit of time on the site researching products and services, reading reviews and learning about new businesses, products and services.

This makes Facebook a great place for businesses to share their information for free.  Unfortunately, while it is free to post updates it is getting harder to reach an audience.

Facebook recently announced another change in the algorithm, determining what will rank most important to its users and, not surprisingly, it isn’t marketing messages from businesses.  Facebook’s new algorithm ranks friends and family updates as most important, these messages will reach Facebook Users before any other content.  This means your updates may not be seen by anyone, or they will be seen by fewer people in the very near future.

Daily Facebook Updates Matter – A Lot!

Posting daily updates on Facebook is important for a few reasons.  Updates will increase visibility, increase engagement, increase share-ablity, increase search rank within the site as well as outside of the site (Google, Yahoo, Bing.)  This makes posting updates every day, sometimes more than 1 or 2 times a day, crucial to online branding and visibility.

The more views, comments, shares, likes the better the visibility.

Alas, with the new algorithm most of the business updates will no longer be fed to News Feeds.  This will cut down on views, comments, shares and likes, which will decrease visibility and result in a lower search rank as well.

Do-It-Yourself Isn’t Going to be Viable

Many smaller businesses felt, and still feel, that they can manage their own Facebook Marketing just fine.  They have a small group of followers and they are loyal, so messages will still be seen if they prompt their audience to keep the Page in their News Feeds.  This will work fine if you are not interested in growing your business.

For business owners interested in being visible and improving online visibility and branding and potentially generating additional revenue it may finally be time to hire a Social Media Marketer who knows what they are doing.

Posting updates is more than just slapping up a funny photo or communicating a special offer.  Marketers know this and use their knowledge, experience and skills to provide a daily update schedule that will aim at improving reach and beating the algorithm to stay in followers’ Feeds.  Additionally, a good strategy will encourage engagement and build online visibility and branding.

Grow or Stay the Same – It’s Up to You

Of course, if you are fine with the few friends on your Facebook Business Page that you have as your only clients from Facebook then you need not worry, just ask them to keep your updates in their Feeds.

But, if you are interested in growing your business, generating new revenue, increasing leads and referrals and ranking high in searches then you need to call a professional and start a serious Social Strategy that will help your business flourish with Social Media.

Social Media Marketers know how to post, when to post and what to post to keep your audience interested and stay fresh and remain in the News Feed.  They know when to boost a post and who to promote it to in order to keep the views high.  There is actually a rhyme and a reason for updates posted by Social Media professionals.  If you aren’t aware of the ‘hows’ and ‘whys’ behind this, then you need to hire someone who is aware.

If you want to take advantage of all that Facebook has to offer in order to grow your business and increase sales and revenue then it’s time to reconsider your marketing and advertising budget and hire a Social Media Marketer to help your business flourish.
