With nearly 25 years of experience as a technologist, I’ve witnessed immense change across the IT sector. Beginning as a graduate business analyst in the energy and utility sectors, I eventually transitioned into a management role where I discovered a passion for leadership and project delivery.

But after 18 years, it was time to seek a new challenge. I ventured into the retail sector, managing engineering teams across digital, continuous improvement, and finance for five years.

However, it wasn't until I joined Sportsbet that I truly felt at home.

Despite initially hesitating due to my lack of experience in sports or wagering, I quickly realised that what truly mattered was the passion for innovation and the commitment to fostering a supportive culture. Seeing this in practice at Sportsbet was the clincher for me.

The wonderful world of MarTech

I am a Platform Manager focused on the marketing technology (MarTech) space. Using a range of tools and technologies to automate and optimise marketing effort, my team and I drive a program of work that enables us to market to our customers in a compliant and traceable way; be it in app messaging, emails, SMS or notifications.

Every day presents new challenges and opportunities for growth. I could be discussing strategy before lunch and then working on career development by afternoon tea. Each day is just so varied!

However, whether it's collaborating with my team on innovative strategies or troubleshooting technical issues, I'm constantly reminded of the importance of teamwork and collaboration.

We are able to deliver programs of true value to our customers because I choose to empower my team and challenge my own personal and professional growth, every step of the way.

Supporting and empowering women

From the moment I joined Sportsbet, I was struck by the genuine commitment here to supporting and empowering women in the workplace. It's evident in the deliberate efforts to break down traditional barriers and cultivate an environment where everyone, regardless of gender, can thrive.

This year’s theme of "Inspire Inclusion" for International Women's Day resonates deeply. Here, there’s a culture of everyone feeling valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential. People here lead by example, extend a hand to others who need support, and champion diversity in all its forms.

For me personally, being inclusive is about having an 'open door' mindset. I want everyone to feel welcomed. l choose to lead by example and encourage others to do the same.
