FINALLY A COVER GIRL

FINALLY A COVER GIRL

It feels incredibly surreal to grace the cover of a magazine after all these years. While I've been celebrated in various ways before, there's something truly special about being invited to be the cover star of a magazine. I say so because I have published FabAfriq magazine for more than 14 years now and getting the right cover is always an issue. When someone graces our magazine cover, we aim to capture their essence and celebrate their journey, showcasing their resilience and success to inspire our readers. So yes! It's my moment to be featured on another prestigious magazine cover.

After featuring so many inspiring women and some men on FabAfriq magazine's cover, I’ve finally found myself in the spotlight on another publication. For the past 14 years, friends and family have encouraged me to share my story of resilience on FabAfriq's cover. Each time, I hesitated, feeling it wasn’t the right moment. Often, we’re so busy with our work that we forget to step back and celebrate our successes.

A few months ago, my dear friend Elizabeth Burns nominated me for a magazine cover. She had the opportunity to be featured herself but chose to highlight another inspiring woman instead. The magazine reached out, and here I am—on the cover! Thanks so much Elizabeth, I appreciate you and the things you do!

I’m delighted to share my story in the latest edition of CIO Views Magazine as one of the "Top 10 Empowering Women Leaders to Follow in 2024."

As CEO of FabAfriq Media Group, my journey has been marked by resilience, innovation, and a deep commitment to empowering others. Thanks to the editorial team who made this possible.

Building FabAfriq was truly challenging. I faced financial struggles, high employee turnover, and the challenge of balancing work in Africa with family in the UK. Each hurdle taught me valuable lessons in business responsibility and adaptability. From late nights strategising to countless flights bridging different continents, the journey has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding and I can bet you that given a chance, I will do it over again.

One of my proudest achievements is founding Corporate Women In Leadership (CWIL), a network that supports over 500,000 women in Corporate Africa. CWIL has taught me the importance of consistency, focus, and genuine collaboration. We organise workshops, mentorship programs, and networking events that have helped countless women overcome professional obstacles and reach new heights in their careers.

At FabAfriq Media Group , our journey from a UK-based agency to a leading Pan-African agency has been remarkable. We now operate across Africa, serving prestigious clients in sectors such as Insurance, oil and gas, aviation, and banking. We also work with a lot of nonprofits, trying as hard as possible not to earn money off them, but to support them in their cause.  Innovation and strategic communication are the cornerstones of our services. Our success stories include launching major campaigns, shaping industry trends, and crafting impactful narratives that deeply resonate with audiences.

Reflecting on my journey, I am immensely grateful for the support of my family, friends, and colleagues. Together, we continue to push boundaries and redefine success. Each success shows the power of perseverance, community, and a shared vision as we build a diverse and talented team to satisfy our clients
