This week it was great to admire the russet mantle clad trees of Autumn on our Nordic Walk this week dappled by some weaker sunshine. Squirrels, scampering up the rough bark a dove or two cooing in the background. It is surprising what you see and hear on an Autumnal Nordic Walk.
The Autumn seasons spells out many changes for our internal body clocks and this time of year an often seem like we are losing a fighting battle with our health and fitness. For most of us the two key changes we notice immediately are the drop in temperature and the reducing amount of daylight.
Our bodies need to manage the seasonal transition from summer to winter as the clocks fall back.
This diminishing sunshine can lead to a lack of vitamin D, especially for vulnerable groups such as childern, pregnant women and the elderly. For some of us, the decrease in sunlight can lead to a drop in mood levels and even seasonal affective disorder (SAD) from some.
