Former Apprentices gain recognition for career development

Two former Specsavers Apprentices were recognised amongst peers of similarly qualified individuals for their dedication to career progression and personal development recently at a prestigious ceremony in London.

Jacob Goble and Abbie Hulme were invited to receive the Apprentices Certificate at the event to acknowledge their commitment to development and continuing further education in their profession. Award certificates were presented this year by the Lord Mayor of London in Mansion House, City of London

Abbie completed her Spectacle Maker Apprenticeship with Specsavers Litchfield, moved onto pass her Cert 3 Ophthalmic Dispensing course and is currently finishing off the Cert 4 level, with a plan to go on to Dispensing Optician studies afterwards.

The Master Certificate Scheme celebrates excellence, encourages career progression, and recognises the very highest levels of skill and experience through three levels of recognition - Apprentice, Journeyman and Master Certificate Awards. The scheme is a partnership between the participating Livery Companies and City & Guilds and is organised by the Construction Liveries Group.

This scheme gives encouragement and recognition to students, trainees, and apprentices on achieving excellence in their craft, trade or profession and status on individuals that has been earned. Part of the scheme also involves individuals taking a ‘charge’ (confirming responsibility) to continue mentoring and fostering those who follow on in their profession. The scheme also provides a high-level destination point for many people working in craft occupations.

Well done Craig Hastilow, keep up the great apprenticeship work.

Well done to Jacob and Abbie. They were great ambassadors for developing eye health careers.
