From Apprentice to Expert: Elliot Dryden Celebrates 5 Years at Vallum Associates

Elliot Dryden joined Vallum Associates just over five years ago and has played a significant role in Vallum’s growth since then. To celebrate this, we asked him some questions about his experience:

What attracted you to Vallum Associates?

I first became interested in joining Vallum Associates after a conversation with Malvin Kamara about his vision to grow the business and his aspiration to enter new markets. His drive for the sector and his passion to achieve success were among the reasons I decided to join.

Joining a business at such an early stage taught me a lot about scaling a business in addition to being a great head-hunter. Thanks to Malvin and the Vallum Team, I have been able to grow successfully in my career.

What has been a career highlight?

There are many moments from my time at Vallum that have marked my time here so far. If I must pick one, I would say that becoming the top billing 360 consultant of the business at such a young age has been a huge personal achievement.

Otherwise, being given the opportunity to create a team of people who help me grow and are passionate about the job has been very rewarding.

What are your future goals as a recruiter?

For the moment, I look forward to continuing placing the great candidates we work with into exciting, growing companies across the globe. A rewarding aspect of my job is meeting great people eager to progress in their field, something I relate to.

If you could go back and talk to yourself on your first day at Vallum, what would you say?

An essential lesson I’ve discovered during my five years at Vallum is that bad days are part of the job and that it is normal to experience them. To get through these times, I believe it is important to recognise that you can only control a certain number of things. Keeping this in mind makes it easier to focus on the good days, which are the majority.

Challenges are a part of the learning experience and can be taken forward as valuable lessons. Learn from the lows, enjoy the highs, and above all, keep striving for more success!
