We Got the Date Wrong

Independence Day should have been celebrated on July 2, 1776. Congress voted for independence from Great Britain two days prior to the date we celebrate. Also, the Declaration of Independence wasn't even fully signed until August 2. 1776

Odd Coincidence

Three presidents who signed the Declaration of Independence- Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe and John Adams- all died on July 4th.

Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, died with 5 hours of each other exactly 50 years after signing... weird.

...Maybe Just Don't Celebrate if You're a President

President Zachary Taylor died in 1850 after eating spoiled fruit at a July 4th party.
