Gatwick Pride, a year on.

As we celebrate Pride Month this year, it's a great opportunity to reflect on the journey of our LGBT+ Business Resource Group, Gatwick Pride, over the last year.

Our mission has always been to foster a sense of community and inclusivity, and we've made significant progress towards that goal, so as Co-Chair of Gatwick Pride, I wanted to share some of the highlights over the last 12 months.

In August, London Gatwick proudly sponsored Crawley Pride, which we were honoured to attend. The event allowed us to connect with local members of the community and allies, and with many of our colleagues, their friends and families joining us in the parade. Our balloon aeroplane, carried along the parade route through Crawley town, was a symbol of our pride and unity.

As the year progressed, we were able to get together regularly to network, provide a safe space for colleagues and discuss how we can make the airport a better place to work for the LGBT+ community.

In our efforts to create a more inclusive environment at London Gatwick for colleagues, stakeholders and passengers, we submitted our first questionnaire to Stonewall at the end of 2024. We're currently working through the results to join the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index 2024.

February 2024 marked our first LGBT+ History Month as a BRG. We engaged colleagues from around the airport with a strong panel of industry guests to dive into LGBT+ history, why it is important, and how we can use it to create a better future. The turnout was fantastic, leading to thought-provoking conversations, presentations and activities.

As we celebrate Pride Month, we're delighted to see our Airport Security team once again donning their Pride rainbow epaulettes in support of the community. These were designed to show our support to colleagues and passengers alike. This year, we've also implemented a few changes around the airport campus to celebrate Pride, with positive messages being displayed on digital screens, rainbow bollards outside our South Terminal and the North Terminal's Hollywood staircase being lit up in the colours of the rainbow. Be sure to check them out if you're travelling through the airport this month!

As we look back on a year filled with progress and pride, we're excited about the future of Gatwick Pride. We're firmly committed to continuing our work to make London Gatwick an inclusive and supportive environment for everyone. Happy Pride Month!

It's been such a great year and I'm so PROUD of what we've accomplished so far! More to come! 😍
