In contemporary society, the concept of gender fluidity has gained significant traction, challenging traditional views on gender identity and expression. Gender fluidity refers to the idea that gender is not fixed and can change over time, contrasting with the binary understanding of male and female as established in many cultures and religious traditions. For devout Christians, this shift is seen through the lens of biblical prophecy and end-time events. There is a growing concern among some believers that gender fluidity may be one of the abominations precursors to the arrival of the Antichrist. The Bible provides a clear account of gender creation in the Book of Genesis, establishing that God created humans as distinctly male and female. Genesis 1:27 states, "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." This passage suggests that altering one's gender identity dishonors the body that God has given, thus defiling the temple of the Holy Spirit. Additionally, God is depicted as a God of order, not of confusion. 1 Corinthians 14:33 states: "For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people." Gender fluidity is often seen as introducing confusion and disorder into the divine structure of creation, opposing the peace and clarity that God desires.
The concern that gender fluidity may be a precursor to the Antichrist is rooted in the interpretation of biblical prophecies regarding the end times. The Book of Daniel and the New Testament provide insights into the characteristics and actions of the Antichrist and the conditions preceding his rise. Daniel 9:27 states, "He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple, he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him." This verse refers to an abomination that causes desolation, a significant act of desecration against God's order and holiness. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason, God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness." This passage highlights the role of deception in the rise of the Antichrist. Gender fluidity, a rejection of the truth about God's creation, is viewed as part of the delusion that leads people away from biblical truth.
In today's world, the acceptance and promotion of gender fluidity are often championed as progressive and inclusive. However, from a traditional Christian perspective, this trend is interpreted as a sign of the times, indicative of deeper spiritual rebellion and confusion. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 states: "But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people." This passage describes the moral and spiritual decline characteristic of the last days. The embrace of gender fluidity is part of this broader pattern of moral decay and rejection of God's truth.
