Genetic Alliance UK welcomes new Chief Executive

We are delighted to welcome Louise Fish as Genetic Alliance UK’s new CEO.

Louise joins the organisation with a wealth of experience in the rare disease sector.

Louise says: ‘I'm looking forward to championing the voices of 3.5 million people living with genetic, rare and undiagnosed conditions in the UK, their families and the amazing charities and support groups that advocate for them.

I am keen to see a society where people living with genetic, rare and undiagnosed conditions and their families receive excellent care and support throughout their lifetimes to help them live their lives to the fullest.

Genetic Alliance UK has a vital role in driving improvements in care and support by speaking with a strong and united voice on behalf of the individuals, families and organisations that we represent.

We are focused on making sure that the commitments made in the rare disease action plans turn into reality by securing faster diagnosis, driving better coordination of care, increasing awareness among health and care professionals, and improving access to treatments and care.

Over the next few months I'll be working with Genetic Alliance UK's trustees, staff, member organisations, SWAN UK representatives and partners to make sure we focus on what matters most to the individuals, families and organisations that we represent and how we can best support them in future.

I'm looking forward to speaking to as many people as possible from the genetic, rare and undiagnosed communities and hearing your views.’

Welcome to the role Louise! I've really enjoyed working with the fantastic Nick Meade and the Genetic Alliance UK policy team as part of the Charity Medicines Access Coalition. Look forward to continuing to work with you all on access to medicines policy and other important topics.
