Getting to know me

As an aspiring journalist, one should know their interests and the field they are hoping to eventually join. For me, I want to eventually work in the sports world once I am done with school. Sports have always been a form of entertainment in my life and constantly bring me joy. If I'm being completely honest, I couldn't imagine a life where my job wasn't sports related. Everything I've ever considered has sports related whether that be my first dream career which was to be an NBA player or my dream job now which is a sports journalist. This is me attempting to put myself out there in the realm of sports journalists and hopefully making some connections that can take me a long way.

To provide some more context about myself, my name is Michael Johnson and I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, but I currently reside in Fontana, California. I graduated from Alexander Hamilton High School in 2019 and since then have been furthering my education at Santa Monica College. I will be obtaining my Associate's degree in Journalism from SMC later on this year. I've been on the Dean's Honor List in the past 3 semesters and plan on making it a total of 2 years on the list this Spring.

When it comes to sports, there's no questioning how big of a fan I am. I'm usually glued to my TV or laptop trying to keep up with everything in the sports world. My main focuses are on basketball and football as those are two of the biggest American sports. As someone who used to play basketball, I believe that my best knowledge is there because I can understand most of the concepts that are being ran and I know all of the rules so it makes it even more entertaining for me as a spectator. I've been learning more and more about football over the years as I previously wasn't too interested since no teams resided in Los Angeles but with the Rams and Chargers routinely being on TV on Sundays it's hard to not tune in.

I would like to end this off by saying I'm open to any criticism that may come with this as this is the first article I have ever written. I will continue to work as hard as possible to be my best and eventually get recognized by the best. I will more than likely post about once a week as I am currently taking Winter courses and try to improve weekly. Thanks for your time!
