Getting ready for 2021…

Much has already been said and written about 2020 and though 2020 in many ways was a tragic horror story for all of us, mediathand also have some uplifting takeaways from 2020.

Despite everything, business continued and customers continued to trust mediathand to enhance and upgrade their live broadcast, uni- and multicast streaming solutions. 

Just before Christmas, mediathands’ Low Latency HLS streaming solution to Apple and Android devices was made ready for first mover customer testing. If you know someone ready to test LL-HLS and preferably with a challenging streaming case, please send me a message. 

After spending 18+ months in the R&D lab, mediathand successfully introduced the OTT- Broadcast concept in 2020 to selected visionary partners in the OTT and Broadcast industry and together, we founded the OTT-Broadcast Forum to further develop the OTT-Broadcast specification to facilitate and leverage the digital transition in the global Broadcast industry. 

Critical elements in the OTT-Broadcast concept have been very well received at technical demonstrations by mediathand at NAB 2019, IBC 2019, NAB Show Express 2020, SMPTE Game on 2020 and at DVB Demos 2020.

Today, the OTT-Broadcast specification is integrated in the Copenhagen Testbed to demonstrate the major advantages of a unicast-assisted multicast strategy for Nextgen TV distribution to deliver a personalised unified streaming experience on all networks, to all consumer devices.
