Getting Stuff Done When Anxiety Gets Rough
There are just days when anxiety, and it's dark and twisty friends, won't leave.
That summed up my first week back at work earlier this month.
"What happened? Why are you blah blah blah?"
Sometimes...
...triggers set things off.
Other times...
...there's neither rhyme nor reason, just a flood of emotion or a chemical disturbance in the force.
You need dopamine or serotonin or sunlight — a proper hug!
When there's work to do, though. When deadlines loom and the clock keeps ticking because you're a solopreneur who has promises to keep, pushing through the dark and twisty seasons is tough.
So, you (and me) must learn to be tougher, to prepare for the inevitable.
We try and fail until we find what works and cling to it like a lifeline.
And that's what my latest vlog is mostly about.
It's not as dramatic, but I do talk about the mindset shifts I've learned in the first week of my "Be consistent challenge."
I also wax poetic about,
Plus, I spill the tea on how I deal with anxiety, procrastination, and those days when I wish the world would just go away.
Tech companies hire me when their product story stops selling. I create messaging that sales teams actually believe in and customers actually want.
2moRobyn-Lee Samuels Love how you're tackling the "messy middle" - that's the real shit nobody wants to talk about because it's not sexy or marketable. The intersection of anxiety, procrastination, and productivity is where the actual work happens. Challenge point: You're listing broad topics ("mindset shifts," "balancing projects") without getting into the nitty-gritty. What specific failure taught you something uncomfortable but necessary? That's the content people actually need (maybe it's in the video). Call-to-action: Pick one mindset shift that completely blindsided you - the one that made you go "well f*ck, I've been doing this wrong for years" - and break that down in detail.

2moInterestingly, I don't see myself as a person who follows routines and rituals. But when I have had a perfectly balanced day, the kind that routine can provide, I feel a huge sense of satisfaction

2moI confess, I've not watched your vid - yet - but your text resonates. My solution, which I have to remind myself to do, is to get outside - soak up some fresh air and Vit D, water plants, hack away at wayward branches, pull up weeds, pick up dog poop, take out trash, gently play with herb plants .. anything outdoors and clearing or growing .. it works.
