Global Annual Remix Contest Announces Industry Sponsor And Roni Size Joins The Judging Panel

The B-Side Project, supported by Prism Sound, will be releasing a series of short videos on social media through November, announcing the heavyweight judging panel.

Internationally renowned manufacturer Prism Sound is lending its support to the B-Side Project, which promotes new artists, merges music and provides additional platforms for live and electronic music productions through an annual global remix contest.

Now in its fifth year, the B-Side Project encourages music artists to enter original tracks into its annual competition. The artists are then paired with electronic music producers around the world, who re-mix the tracks to create a catalogue of exciting new electronic music and partnerships. The project culminates each year with a judging panel of music professionals who decide on the remix best tracks, 10 of which are released as a compilation album, along with the original tracks. The overall winner earns both the artist and remixer significant prizes, including a Prism Sound audio interface and Sadie software.

Yvette Chivers, Founder of B-Side Project, says: "We are absolutely delighted to have gained Prism Sound as brand partner for the B-Side Project. Their links with renowned music producers, recording studios and industry associations has spearheaded the project to another level, benefiting all those who get involved!"

And through industry links with Prism Sound, the B-Side Project is pleased to announce their first judge on the panel, by way of British music pioneer Roni Size.  Watch the video here.

Roni Size’s whole life has been about building something new from whatever was around him. From Bristol youthclub parties, through the white heat of rave and the foundational moments of jungle and drum’n'bass, to transforming underground electronic music into something that could be played by a live band on the biggest arena and festival stages, he has at each stage created completely afresh not just a sound or style but an entire methodology of how music can be made. And each time, that new creation has reflected his heritage, his surroundings and the precise moment in which he’s operating. Roni is one of the people who distilled the very essence of British music, and is responsible for the way the nation sounds to this day, which is why his expertise is so valued on the B-Side Project judging panel.

And this announcement could not come with better timing, as Roni Size Reprazent’s ‘Live At Colston Hall’ has just been released on 13th November 2015 through Mansion Sounds.  This new and awaited release is a 13 track live album CD and accompanying DVD including 4 original, unreleased tracks recorded live from the band’s legendary show at Bristol’s Colston Hall in 2009. The audio is also available as a digital release.

The now classic performance reopened the world-famous British venue, and saw Roni & Reprazent accompanied by the composer William Goodchild and The Emerald Ensemble (now known as the Bristol Ensemble), whom the band had worked with for Reprazent’s third album, ‘New Forms2’. The show reinterpreted the band’s hugely respected and influential back catalogue, making them one of the first drum & bass artists to work with a live orchestra and choir, and bringing together the worlds of electronic and classical music years ahead of events like the BBC Classical Ibiza Proms.

Roni Size has remixed many tracks during his career for artists such as Air, Kenny Dope and Luis Vega, and says "Sometimes you have to trust the person doing your remix... Introduce your music or your sound to a whole new audience. Remixing is a great creative way of introducing you to music you would not have listened to otherwise".

B-Side Project 2015/2016 opened for worldwide musician and producer registrations in September and will close for registrations on Friday 4th December 2015. Metropolis Studios in London, UK will host the B-Side Project Awards event on Thursday 14th April 2016, which will celebrate the musicians and producers creativity, as well as being streamed live on the internet so that participants and music fans worldwide can be involved.

Musicians submit a track.  Remix producers submit your skills and apply your creative interpretation.  Get released, get promoted, get booked. For more information about the B-Side Project, please visit the website www.b-sideproject.org
