Glogos Freight Report Week 51
Region: Russian River, Azov / Black Sea, Caspian
Trade: Coaster shipments
As per market participants’ talk, chances are high for Azov’s area’ activity to improve in the middle of January. At the moment Traders do their best to evade new shipments, fearing possible problems and delays with loading operations during holidays.
Even the Ship Owners of newly-built (2000-x) fleet with ice-class are reluctant to perform voyages ex Rostov, Azov and Yeysk and looking for safer jobs, preferable contracts for whole winter period.
Due to issue with the stuck tanker in Bosporus channel which occurred on previous week, about 100 of vessels have suffered delay, which caused shift for planned dates of shipments for several Charterers.
Region: Baltic / ARAG
Trade: Coaster shipments, Handy-size
Anticipating near holidays, freight market in ARAG / Baltic region has seen little change. While notable amount of vessels already been fixed ahead for whole January, new cargo orders occur rarely on the market. Rates are not dropping though, owing to very few actual fixtures made during previous week. Lack of open spot tonnage allows Ship Owners to postpone negotiations to next year in case they cannot win desirable freight level.
Lack of fleet supply in Fin Gulf grows more severe, supported by ice restrictions. Moreover, some of the Owners, who usually employ their vessels in the area, decided to relocate fleet to southern regions.
