Dear Classic Car Enthusiasts, Collectors and Followers
Even with the unpredictable weather we love to hate, the classic car world drives on, with new events taking place everywhere.
They may be small, compared with the Goodwoods of this world, but still show off some fine cars and attract interesting people supporting the industry with their passion.
The classic car world is such a small place in a way, and so global in others: plenty of likeminded individuals ready to share and discuss their opinions, from how the classic car market is going all the way to how badly a car is being displayed…
The problem is that everyone has their own vision, rightly or wrongly, of how a car should be restored and how ‘original’ the restoration should be.
The other concern is the so-called experts of this world who think they know better and advise people incorrectly; we all see it so often and just lately it has become a major concern.
Yes, there are very knowledgeable people in this classic car world, but choose them wisely, as even well-known publications can get their information wrong.
As always, just be careful: do your homework, just making sure you get your facts in the right order, as it may make a huge difference.
It was a pleasure, as always, to attend the Goodwood Festival of Speed with so much to see; a little disappointed by the overall lack of classics, but the Cartier Concours made up for that with its splendid display. If we have one gripe, it is that there were too many people in one place.
It was refreshing to see an old face driving the recent Goodwood auction, but did it make a difference to the results? I am not sure, it is likely that the desirable cars helped, but the atmosphere was buzzing in the room, something which we have not witnessed for a while.

My concerns are still about the on-line auctions still cropping up all over the place.
Do real cars sell to real people from these platforms? Should we perhaps discuss the different between ‘used’ and ‘classic’?
It's a minefield out there and it is so easy to be reeled in.
