There is a client who is an integrator specializing in superhard tool solutions, providing end users with high precision professional PCD/PCBN tool production equipment (including special grinding machines for superhard tools, etc.) and precision machining services.
In recent years, this customer has been trying to improve the automation level. They use collaborative robots to load and unload workpieces for the grinding machines, solving the problem of labor shortage for end users and improving production efficiency.

Hiring labor to complete the loading and unloading of superhard tool in factories is a common mode of production. However, the rise of labor costs has become a major problem for the production of enterprises.
Loading and unloading of superhard tool for the grinding machine is a highly repetitive, mechanical and quite boring task. Additionally, the grinding machine takes 5 minutes to complete the grinding process of a superhard tool. It's a waste of manpower to keep employees waiting for the single and low-value-added operations.
To solve the problem, customers preferred collaborative robots that are small, safe and flexible. This is because it is the only way to get inside a grinding machine with an area of less than 4 m² and avoid large-scale modifications to the end-user's production line layout.
The client finally chose Han's E05 collaborative robot which has a payload of 5KG and a repeatability of ±0.02mm. Elfin cobot adopts a unique double-joint module design, where one motion module contains two joints to form a unique kinematic structure and can move freely in a small space. Moreover, the programming and debugging are very simple and efficient. After setting the user coordinate system and determining the position of the first workpiece material, E05 cobot can automatically complete the accurate loading and unloading.
