Harnessing the Power of TimeXtender and Power BI

In today's data-driven world, effective data management and business intelligence are crucial for making informed decisions. In his recent Tech Talk, Sandesh Timalsina, Software Engineer of Data at Signetic LLC, showcased how the platform revolutionizes data management, while also highlighting the strengths of Power BI in data analysis and visualization.

What is TimeXtender?

TimeXtender is a data management platform designed to streamline and automate data by integration, preparation, and management processes. It has a single, low-code user interface that automates data integration and transformation process, streamlining the workflow and enabling users to efficiently manage their data pipeline with minimal effort.

Three Layers of TimeXtender

  1. Operational Data Exchange (ODX): The ODX layer acts as a central repository for raw data, providing a secure and organized space for data storage before it undergoes further processing.

  1. Modern Data Warehouse (MDW): In this layer, raw data is transformed and modeled, preparing it for analysis. This structured approach ensures that data is ready for accurate and insightful business intelligence.

  1. Semantic Model: The semantic model is created out of the data warehouse and used to connect to visualization tools like powerBI.

User Interface (UI)

TimeXtender features a user-friendly, drag-and-drop interface that simplifies the design and management of data pipelines. With tools for data modeling, transformation, and scheduling, users can easily navigate and manage their data workflows.

2. Comprehensive components:

  • Power BI Desktop: A powerful tool for designing and publishing detailed reports.
  • Power BI Service: An online platform for sharing and collaborating on reports, enabling seamless teamwork.
  • Power BI Mobile: Mobile apps that allow users to access reports on the go, ensuring data-driven decision making anytime, anywhere.
  • Power BI Embedded: A service for embedding interactive reports into custom applications, extending the reach of business intelligence.

3. Wide range of data sources: Power BI connects to numerous data sources, including databases, web services, and cloud services, offering unparalleled flexibility in data integration.

4. DAX: Data Analysis Expression (DAX) is Power BI’s formula language for advanced data manipulation and calculations, enhancing the depth of data analysis. It includes functions, operators and values.

5. Easily operable dashboard:

  • Connect to a data source
  • Design a model
  • Use different visuals to create a report
  • Publish it to the web
  • Share the dashboard

Dashboards in Signetic
