While heat decarbonisation may not currently be at the forefront of political discussions, it remains critical for the UK to achieve its carbon budgets.

The urgency for action is clear, yet specific government plans are likely to remain undefined until after the upcoming spending review, expected to conclude by the end of March.

In the near term, we may not see significant changes; however, following this review, we anticipate a clearer strategy for balancing commercial, industrial, and domestic heating needs, particularly with a focus on fairness for consumers.

During this interim period, any breakthroughs in innovation will primarily be driven by the private sector.

We are already seeing developments in tariffs, financing options, microgrids, and carbon credits that are defining the market dynamics.

While this journey may take time, CB6 and climate leadership will be crucial in elevating heat decarbonisation on the political agenda in the near future.
