Helping youth find their wings and successfully take flight into adulthood
Parenting children and guiding them as they approach the inevitable issues they will encounter as adults is a challenge for anyone. In the year 2022, a reported 19 percent of men and 12 percent of women in the 25-34 demographic returned home to live with their parents. The question, "How to get your grown children to move out," is being asked by parents of all kinds. However, adoptive and foster parents find they have a unique set of circumstances surrounding this seemingly simple question. When a child has experienced trauma, parents must offer support and guidance toward independence in a reassuring manner that truly supports their psychological well-being. Leslie Hales, LICSW, PIP, knows this is no easy endeavor, but it is possible. She aims to help parents through this period of uncertainty in her upcoming webinar, Emptying the Nest: The Art of Launching Differently. Children's Aid Society of Alabama's Pre/Post Adoption Connections Program, (APAC) training team has worked alongside Ms. Hales on numerous occasions and values the depth of understanding and warm delivery she shares in her training events.
