Hill's Pet Nutrition Appoints Dr. Jolle Kirpenstein as Global Chief Veterinary Officer and Dr. Karen Shenoy as Chief Veterinary Officer US
HILL’S PET NUTRITION APPOINTS DR. JOLLE KIRPENSTEIJN AS GLOBAL CHIEF VETERINARY OFFICER AND DR. KAREN SHENOY AS CHIEF VETERINARY OFFICER US
TOPEKA, Kan. (December 21, 2021) - Hill’s Pet Nutrition, a global leader in science-based pet nutrition, today announced two new appointments: Jolle Kirpensteijn, DVM, PhD, Diplomate ACVS and ECVS as Global Chief Veterinary Officer and Karen Shenoy, DVM as Chief Veterinary Officer US. Both appointments are effective January 1, 2022.

“After eight years with the Hill’s US business, Dr. Kirpensteijn brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role, playing a critical role leading our global professional affairs team and serving as a liaison between Hill’s and the veterinary community,” said Jesper Nordengaard, President of Hill’s Pet Nutrition. “Dr. Kirpensteijn is a strong ambassador for both Hill’s and the veterinary profession. He has played an instrumental role during a time of rapid growth of our company, so I look forward to his contributions in his expanded role as Hill’s Global Chief Veterinary Officer.”
In his new role, Dr. Kirpensteijn will be responsible for leading the global professional and veterinary affairs team.

Before starting his career with Hill’s, Dr. Kirpensteijn was a full-time professor in surgical oncology and reconstruction at Utrecht University College of Veterinary Medicine with a main focus on academic education and research innovation. Jolle has a PhD from Utrecht University, a master’s degree from Kansas State University and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Utrecht University. He is a Diplomate of the American and European College of Veterinary Surgeons. Dr. Kirpensteijn lives in Lawrence, Kan. with his husband Daniel Compton and their rescue dog Chippie.
Dr. Kirpensteijn succeeds former Global Chief Professional & Veterinary Affairs Officer Dr. Marina Debernardi, who is retiring after nearly 28 years of distinguished service to Hill’s Pet Nutrition.

In addition, Dr. Karen Shenoy has been appointed as Chief Veterinary Officer for Hill's US.

We know she will play an important role in helping support our vision to make nutrition a cornerstone of veterinary medicine.”
Dr. Shenoy joined Hill’s in 2008. In her time with the organization, she has progressed through a number of roles, each with increasing responsibility including Field Sales and Engagement Director, Associate Director Veterinary Affairs and Sr. Manager Academic Affairs, as well as several field based roles. She holds Bachelor of Science (Veterinary Science) and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from the University of Minnesota. She is an active member and mentor with the Women in Leadership and Management in Animal Health (WILMAH) organization. She has also served on the American Veterinary Medical Association’s Early Career Development Committee and on the Board of Directors for the National Wildlife Rehabilitators Association.

Dr. Shenoy lives in Lenexa, Kan. with her husband James, daughter Maya, and their menagerie of pets, including three mixed-breed shelter dogs: Hoppy, Porter and Growler.
