A History of Video Games

How many years do you play video games? Video is pretty broad and generic word. How many years to do you play games on device (e.g. computer, TV, console, mobile ...)? I bet many years.

Humpty Dumpty (1947)

Here is great source of analysis and answers to many basic questions about Game industry - A History of Video Games in 64 Objects from Jon-Paul C. Dyson, PhD and Jeremy K. Saucier PhD. Sure, starting 1947 till 2016 there were many many great games, but this book highlights 64 almost the best of them. There is a luck of modern mobile games (e.g. Clash of Clans, Game of War, Candy Crash, Roblox, Fortnite etc.), but from the very first page you'll fill how massive and overcrowded was, is and will be game market all over the world.

Digi-Comp Computer (1963)

Some mechanical games were also described, which is really cool. Never seen Digi-Comp Computer before - looks awesome especially as for 56 years old toy :)

Dungeons & Dragons (1974)

How about card games? Old fashioned paper card games with rolling dice in the good company in the cozy place...

Simon (1978)

If I'm right (correct me please) each and every kid (and adult for sure) knows what's Simon. Minimalistic still unique logic sequence game. 41 years old for now!!

Atari (1977)

Special attention is on game consoles which there were quite a bit. Remember Atari? Nintendo? PlayStation? Wii?

Minecraft (2011)

For sure you'll find in the book the most popular game for today's kids - Minecraft. More modern games analysis can be find on the web.
