Home Sweet Home

Just to set the scene…..

The other day, we had to go to the Capital District area in New York to carry out a task. It’s about a 50 mile trip one way, and we go there usually once or twice or more a month. As a matter of fact, we lived in the Capital City, a small city, for a brief period and thoroughly enjoyed being there at the time.

Since then, we moved into the boonies and have been here nearly 18 years now. We live on 3 ½ acres, on the side of a mountain, in the woods, a few miles from the nearest little town. Can’t see our neighbors, but we know they’re there.

We actually looked forward to going to Albany the other day. When we lived there, we appreciated having a fairly active social life and being near all sorts of restaurants and entertainment. Nevertheless, I’ll tell you what…..

Time and after time we have found that we no longer belong in a populated area. The congestion and attitudes are not something we encounter here in the boonies. I can safely say that we enjoy the peace and tranquility of living with the cows and the bears.

Merely a matter of preference. There’s nothing wrong with Albany – it’s a great little city. Yet, we have been conditioned to need our space and open-air.

(PS. My family thinks this is a great place to visit for the weekend, but they miss the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple and could never tolerate the lack of cell service. Lol)
