Honoring our Warriors
I never served but my dad did. He was in Normandy during D-day as a paratrooper in the 101st airborne. He was wounded coming down and came out of the war with a headplate. He died seven years later in a car accident when his head hit the steering wheel. Even though I didn't really know him I still honor his service and I am grateful for his role in giving me life.
I want to say wopila, a great thanksgiving to all our Native veterans who sacrifice so much so we may have the freedoms we have today. May Tunkashila bless all those who have gone on to the spirit world and those who are still serving. Also, watch over their families who are so devoted to being there for them.
