Feel like you’re always getting looked over for remote jobs? Are you even getting noticed? Let’s fix it.
With approximately 22M people working remotely in the U.S., remote work isn’t going anywhere. So let’s find you that remote dream job.
Here's how to make recruiters sit up and take notice - especially when you're gunning for those coveted remote positions.
✅ (1) Headline Hack
Your headline is prime real estate. Don't just list your job title. Try this formula:
[Your Role] | [Key Skill] | [Benefit to Employer] | #OpenToRemoteWork
Example: "Digital Marketing Specialist | SEO Wizard | Driving 200% Traffic Growth | #OpenToRemoteWork"
Bonus: Add a branding statement like “Driving customers & revenue to client offers through innovative marketing tactics”
✅ (2) Picture Perfect
You don't need a stuffy corporate headshot. But do use a clear, friendly photo where you're looking directly at the camera. Smile! It makes you look approachable and confident.
✅ (3) Summary Spotlight
Hook recruiters in the first two lines. Then, use bullet points to highlight:
• Your top skills for remote work (self-motivation, communication, tech-savvy)
• Quantifiable achievements
• Remote work experience or relevant transferable skills
Recommended by LinkedIn
✅ (4) Experience Emphasis
For each role, showcase:
• How you've worked independently or collaboratively in virtual settings
• Tools you've mastered (Slack, Zoom, Asana, etc.)
• Results you've delivered without direct supervision
✅ (5) Skill Showcase
List both hard and soft skills crucial for remote work. Think: time management, written communication, project management software proficiency.
✅ (6) Recommendations Rule
Quality over quantity. Reach out to colleagues who can speak to your remote work capabilities. Guide them on specific skills or projects to mention.
✅ (7) Activity Attracts
Share and comment on content related to your industry and remote work. Show you're engaged and knowledgeable about current trends. Be sure to follow every LinkedIn company page where you apply.
🚀 Bonus Tip:
Turn on "Open to Work" and specify you're looking for remote opportunities. This feature notifies recruiters of your availability.
Remember, your LinkedIn profile is your digital handshake. Make it count.
