How to ensure going Electric is right for your fleet

How to ensure going Electric is right for your fleet

The world is becoming more Green… well, technically not if you are watching David Attenborough but it seems like many of us are all trying to do our little bit when it comes to making more environmentally friendly decisions and choices about our fleets are no exception to that

Electric vehicles are becoming more popular, with an estimated 30 percent of all vehicle sales by 2025 being electric, which has come some way when you think that back in 2016 they accounted for just under 1% of vehicle sales globally (JP Morgan research). Our infrastructure is in no way lagging behind either. We now have more than 30,000 charge points in over 11,000 locations across the UK, which is more places to charge a vehicle and grab a Twix then to pump petrol. And EV can make you rich! Ok, not quite but from 6th April 2020/21, fully electric cars are paying zero Company Car Tax (CCT) in 2020/21, just 1% in 2021/22 and 2% in 2022/23

So how do businesses know whether Electric Vehicles are right for their fleet? When we are all used to working in a certain way, it can be difficult to know how to make that change. As Vodafone has some experience in IoT (Recognised by Gartner as a "Leader" in the 2019 Magic Quadrant for IoT Connectivity Services, Worldwide for the sixth consecutive time) it is something that crossed our mind and it now forms part of Vodafone Fleet Analytics

Data is becoming one the most powerful strategic assets we have, we all know this and data seems to be used everywhere we turn. Our Electric Vehicle Suitability Assessment (EVSA) data analysis can help businesses determine which vehicles can be best replaced by EVs by vehicle type, range capability and projected cost savings (always an important one…). As Vodafone has an ambition to support our customers to save 350 million tonnes of carbon emissions by 2030, EVSA helps you to understand how much your fleet can reduce CO2 emissions and fuel consumption, providing an effective way of comparing fuel and energy use and provides real time data on battery charge percentage and charging status

Vodafone Business Fleet telematics enables businesses to track up to 1,000’s of vehicles with the benefits of creating operational efficiency, cost reduction and improving driver safety through its ability to gather real time operating data. Crash detection and seatbelt monitoring becomes even more important when you realise that just over one in eight (13%) employees who drive for work consider the hard shoulder a safe place to take a work call….! (Fleetnews). Yeah, I’m not quite sure what to say about that either so let’s move on. Unfortunately vehicles seem to becoming a hotbed for organised crime and with the Home office recording a 50% rise in vehicle thefts over the last 5 years, stolen vehicle recovery is becoming an essential part of telematics

Vodafone Automotive has enabled over 2.2 million connected vehicles. We understand the importance of increasing efficiency, sustainability and driver safety whilst succeeding in a digital world. Take a look and imagine what this kind of data could do for your company
